Five Suspects Apprehended in Dandora Criminal Gang Bust

Five individuals suspected of belonging to a criminal gang responsible for numerous robberies and mobile phone thefts in Dandora Phase III have been detained following a focused police operation conducted by officers from the Dandora Police Station in Nairobi.

According to an official statement from the National Police Service on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, the suspects were taken into custody during an intelligence-driven operation designed to dismantle organized criminal networks operating in the region.

Police indicated that the operation was based on intelligence reports and increased monitoring targeting criminal activities that have been disturbing residents in Dandora and neighboring areas.

“Police officers stationed at Dandora Police Station in the Nairobi Region carried out a targeted operation on May 26th, 2026, resulting in the arrest of five individuals believed to be part of a criminal group that has been harassing residents through mobile phone snatching, robberies, and the theft of Kenya Power token meters within the housing estates,” the statement explained.

During the raid, authorities entered a mobile phone repair shop in Dandora Phase III, which investigators now suspect was functioning as a hiding place and distribution center for stolen goods.

“Following reliable information, the officers raided a mobile phone repair shop located in Dandora Phase III, a property now thought to have been operating as a storage and distribution point for stolen property,” the police stated.

Officials recovered 21 mobile phones of various brands and models believed to have been stolen from citizens during robberies and phone-snatching incidents.

Officers also retrieved 12 Kenya Power token meters suspected to have been unlawfully taken from residential properties within the estate.

The suspects are currently held in police custody while awaiting further investigation and court proceedings.

The National Police Service reiterated its dedication to strengthening operations focused on reducing crime and restoring public safety in Nairobi and other areas of the country.

“We encourage the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing information through the nearest police station, or via emergency numbers, or through the toll-free reporting line,” the statement concluded.
