Nairobi drivers should expect significant traffic congestion during the Africa Forward Summit taking place from May 11 to 12.
Authorities have confirmed complete and partial road shutdowns around major routes connected to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and locations where heads of state and delegates will be accommodated.
Roads fully blocked starting midnight on May 11 comprise City Hall Way, Parliament Road, Harambee Avenue, and Taifa Road.
According to security officials, these measures are essential to ensure unimpeded transit for visiting dignitaries participating in this important continental gathering.
Multiple main highways and connecting roads will also face periodic interruptions, traffic halts, and re-routing.
Affected thoroughfares consist of Mombasa Road, Lang’ata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, and Kiambu Road.
Other zones impacted are Nairobi’s Central Business District, particularly the KICC vicinity, hotel districts housing summit participants, and access routes to summit locations.
Commuters are urged to prepare in advance, utilize different pathways, and anticipate substantial traffic over the two-day period.
