Security officers at a roadblock in Kanyonyoo on the Thika-Garissa Highway stopped a passenger bus carrying ammunition and suspected government property.
The vehicle, registration KCW 208A and operated by Buscar Sacco, was en route from Lamu to Nairobi when flagged down during a routine check.
Inspecting the luggage compartment, authorities found a blue metal box with 19 rounds of 7.62x51mm G3 ammunition, 116 rounds of 7.62x39mm AK-47 bullets, two empty AK-47 magazines, two machetes, and various General Service Unit (GSU) items such as ceremonial clothing, combat jackets, jungle green pants, and a red beret.
Initial investigations revealed the box was registered as a package at the Mokowe booking office in Lamu County and was headed to Nairobi. Authorities stated no sender information was provided.
Driver Said Abdulrazak Ahmed Abadalla and conductor Bernard Ochieng Odhiambo were arrested and transported to Kanyonyoo Police Station along with the vehicle and seized items. Authorities continue investigating to determine the source and intended recipient of the shipment.
