Ruto outlines achievements in Kirinyaga

President William Ruto presented a comprehensive list of development projects in Kirinyaga, hoping to secure public endorsement for his 2027 re-election bid.
During a gathering with county grassroots representatives at State House on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the President showcased government accomplishments in agriculture, housing, infrastructure, and healthcare.
Regarding agriculture, Ruto noted increased earnings for farmers from coffee, tea, avocado, and milk products, consistent with his pledge to enhance living standards through fair commodity pricing.
He announced the forthcoming delivery of 13 milk cooling facilities to the county, aimed at enhancing milk preservation, minimizing waste, and increasing farmer revenues.
In the housing sector, Ruto emphasized the ongoing construction of 4,000 affordable homes as proof of his dedication to providing low-cost housing and generating employment in the construction industry.
“We have allocated KSh15 billion for the construction of 4,000 affordable housing units. Both Gichugu and Kirinyaga housing projects are prepared for occupation,” Ruto stated.
The President also mentioned a KSh1.5 billion investment to construct 12 modern markets, with three already completed. He additionally referenced initiatives to house 4,000 university and college students.
For healthcare, President Ruto disclosed the provision of KSh330 million worth of equipment to county medical facilities. He also unveiled plans to establish a KEMRI research center in Mwea and a KSh200 million allocation for constructing a Level 4 hospital in the constituency.
Regarding electricity, the President reported that over 19,000 households have been connected to the power grid, with an additional 9,500 connections planned.
Concerning road infrastructure, The President guaranteed residents of Kirinyaga that all current development works would be finalized through a KSh 6 billion budget allocation.
Governor Ann Waiguru headed the Kirinyaga delegation, which included various local community leaders.
