The closure of Wurth Kenya Limited, a prominent international company specializing in fastening and assembly materials, threatens numerous job losses as it prepares to shut down its Kenyan operations following nearly thirty years of business in the nation.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, March 10, the company revealed the decision was made as part of an extensive strategic restructuring initiative across the global Wurth organization.
“We regret to announce that Wurth Kenya will discontinue its operations and formally conclude all business activities. This determination follows thorough deliberation and represents a component of a wider strategic realignment within the Wuerth Group’s operational framework,” the statement partially indicated.
Accordingly, the company advised customers and business partners with ongoing transactions to initiate contact for completion of pending matters.
With approximately 500 Kenyan employees on its payroll, all staff members now confront potential unemployment in the wake of this announcement. Notably, however, the corporation did not specify the future employment status of its Kenyan workforce within its communicated statement.
The impending shutdown is anticipated to substantially impact personnel employed by the industrial supplies distributor as business activities gradually conclude.
Nevertheless, the firm indicated it would continue managing existing commitments while ensuring a seamless transition for customers and commercial partners.
The corporation stated it would persist with processing all pending orders, financial accounts, and business engagements throughout the transition phase, requesting customers with active transactions to coordinate with its personnel to complete required arrangements.
Throughout the cessation process, the business reassured interested parties that it would manage the transition with professional standards, guaranteeing that all affairs would be addressed in compliance with relevant legal and business regulations.
Originating from Germany, the Wurth Group functions as an international provider of fastening and assembly components, serving sectors such as automotive, construction, and manufacturing industries.
The enterprise maintains operations across more than 80 nations, supplying tools, fastening elements, and assembly materials to diverse sectors including vehicle assembly, automotive maintenance, construction, manufacturing, and engineering fields.
The disclosure occurs during a period when, following meticulous administrative assessment procedures, multiple establishments have effectively ended their legal status as corporate entities.
A recent gazette notification revealed that the registrar has revoked the registration of more than 50 corporations, consequently resulting in substantial employment reductions.
