Linturi Exposes Plot to Oust Mwangaza

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has sparked controversy after former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi revealed sensitive information about the plot to remove her from office. During an interview with Weru TV, Linturi made stunning allegations that Meru leaders collected over Sh100 million to support the impeachment proceedings and guarantee her ousting by the Senate.

Linturi also disclosed that the Senate Deputy Speaker and Meru Senator Kathure Murungi served as the group’s ‘treasurer’.

A visibly upset Kawira Mwangaza sarcastically suggested that raising funds to remove her might be the only achievement of Meru leaders.

“The only initiative Meru leaders have successfully implemented in the past two years was collecting over Sh100 million to supposedly bribe senators in favor of impeaching the independently elected Woman Governor of Meru County. Where is the justice?” she asked.

In his confession, Mithika Linturi acknowledged that the situation could have been very different had he not mobilized support and engaged other leaders. Perhaps, Kawira would have remained in office.

“Kathuri Murungi was responsible for transporting the bag of money as they were preparing for a battle,” stated Mithika. He explained it was a campaign to install Mutuma (the current Governor) in power, which required financial backing.

Linturi also implicated Tigania East MP Mpuri Aburi, claiming he contributed the largest sum.

“I contacted my associates and rallied support. I reached out to colleagues, fellow parliamentarians…we convened, raised funds, Sh100 million, because we believed it would benefit Meru.”
