Mbadi appeals to Nyanza residents to back Ruto’s re-election

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has called upon Nyanza residents to endorse President William Ruto’s candidacy for the upcoming elections. The CS stated that the Orange Democratic Movement has committed to supporting the President for another term, pointing to his development accomplishments as justification. He also criticized certain leaders who were provoking ODM supporters against Ruto’s re-election bid without offering substantial reasons. Addressing the crowd during a Saturday fundraiser for the proposed John Mbadi Osogo Senior Secondary School in Kwabwai Ward, Ndhiwa Constituency, Mbadi reaffirmed their unwavering support for the inclusive government. “Some leaders incite people against Ruto’s re-election attempts. You may try, but your endeavors will fail because Ruto will be re-elected in 2027,” Mbadi declared. He stressed that the Orange Democratic Movement’s endorsement of President Ruto’s re-election was based on a clear agreement. “As a party, ODM has determined to support Ruto, and this matter is no longer open for discussion. Let us all get ready to support him during next year’s election,” Mbadi added. Mbadi also refuted opposition figures spreading rumors about ODM’s division. He asserted the party maintains unity and that current differing opinions are temporary. “Nobody should spread falsehoods about ODM being divided. Those making such claims are rumor-mongers with self-serving motives,” he stated. He pointed out President Ruto’s contributions to nationwide infrastructure development. “President Ruto inherited a struggling economy, but he has revitalized it. He has also initiated major development initiatives in Nyanza and other regions of Kenya. We must continue supporting him due to his proven performance record,” Mbadi said. Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino encouraged residents to acquire national identity cards and register as voters in large numbers. The legislator emphasized exercising their democratic right in the next general election, noting that widespread voter registration would strengthen the Luo community’s position during government formation negotiations. “Voter registration will empower our representatives to have a favorable position in government formation discussions,” Owino said. The appeal for active involvement was reinforced by Ndhiwa politician Michael Agwanda. Homa Bay County Assembly Majority Leader Richard Ogindo advised residents against aligning with Edwin Sifuna’s ‘Linda Mwananchi’ team. “Sifuna’s group is not pursuing the correct path. We should steer clear of them,” Ogindo stated.
