Registration Centres Double as Polling Stations, Voter Registration Continues Across Kenya

During elections, Kenya’s 24,559 voter registration centres across the country’s 290 constituencies transform into polling stations, facilitating smooth voting for citizens. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed that continuous voter registration is ongoing at constituency offices, ensuring that those who missed earlier registration periods can now be included in the voter roll.

The IEBC explained that the registration drive is incremental, targeting only those who were not registered prior to the 2013 General Elections. Once additional funding is secured, the exercise will be expanded to cover all wards and registration centres nationwide. Residents are encouraged to confirm their registration details and the locations of their designated polling stations to participate effectively in upcoming elections.

Kenya’s voter registration process underscores the importance of accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights. Citizens can visit their constituency offices or check online platforms to find their nearest registration centre and stay updated on registration schedules
