Kisumu City signs MoU with German town to boost disaster-preparedness

Kisumu City has partnered with Gertshofen, Germany, to enhance fire and rescue services through equipment donations, specialized training, and technical exchange.

Comprehensive training programs for Kisumu fire personnel:

Selected firemen train in Germany

German experts provide on-site training in Kisumu

Covers fire suppression, water rescue, and emergency response coordination

Procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Germany.

Significance:

Strengthens Kisumu’s disaster preparedness citywide.

Supports resilient urban systems and fosters global partnerships for sustainable development.

Initiative set to begin before the end of 2025.
