Sixteen Candidates Shortlisted for IPOA Chairperson Interviews in June

Sixteen candidates have been selected for the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Chairperson position, with oral interviews scheduled in Nairobi from June 3 to 5, 2026.

The Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson of IPOA, led by Dr. Reuben Chirchir, has invited the shortlisted candidates to appear for interviews at the Public Service Commission offices along Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.

The selection, announced on Tuesday, May 26, includes former IEBC Vice Chairperson Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri-Zaja from Migori County and former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule from Baringo County.

Other candidates include Duncan Ojwang Oburu from Homa Bay County, who previously worked on the technical team for the NADCO process and compensation framework for protest victims.

Additional candidates are Jaafar Mohamed Sabir (Mandera), Patrick Blasius Owiny (Siaya), Demas Tuikong Kiprono (Uasin Gishu), Kennedy Omoro Mosoti (Nyamira), Wayong’o Cyril Simiyu (Bungoma), Vincent Agala Chokoa (Vihiga), Jacinta Nyaboke Nyamosi (Kisii), Elizabeth Atieno Ayoo (Homa Bay), Geoffrey Mogendi Nyaaga (Nyamira), Juliet Wanjiku Murimi (Kiambu), Edward Katama Ngeywa (Trans Nzoia), Walubengo Waingilo (Trans Nzoia), and Longét Terer (Kericho).

The selection panel has invited the public to provide credible information about any of the applicants before May 29, 2026.

After the interviews, the final candidate will be presented to the President for appointment, with the successful individual serving a six-year term.

The position became available earlier this year when former IEBC chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan resigned following his appointment to the Court of Appeal.
