President William Ruto has landed in Kazakhstan for a two-day official State Visit.
Ruto traveled to Kazakhstan on Tuesday, May 19, from Azerbaijan following his participation at the World Urban Forum.
According to a statement released by the president, he traveled to Kazakhstan to identify areas of mutual cooperation between the two nations across various key industries.

Kenya and Kazakhstan have cultivated their relationship over the past decade through deliberate diplomatic engagements. The time has come to elevate these friendly relations to a higher plane. Our commercial connections are flourishing in tea, flowers, fertilizer, and logistics sectors, with increasing direct links connecting Nairobi and Astana, along with other Central Asian nations, he noted.

The Kenyan Head of State is visiting the Central Asian nation to strengthen bilateral partnerships in areas including Finance, Tourism, ICT, and Energy. “We have been nurturing ties between Kenya and Kazakhstan for more than ten years through purposeful interactions. Now is the moment to advance these amicable relations to the next stage. Our commercial relations are already thriving in tea, flowers, fertilizer, and logistics, with an expanding direct route between Nairobi and Astana, as well as other Central Asian countries,” he stated.

Ruto further emphasized that the two countries intend to leverage their relationship to develop fresh prospects in finance, information technology, tourism, and energy, while also implementing exchange programs between Kenya and Kazakhstan. “We are dedicated to enhancing this foundation by discovering new possibilities in finance, ICT, tourism, energy, and exchange programs, with the primary objective of promoting employment generation, skills exchange, and broadening access to new markets for our products.”

The visit coincided with a nationwide transportation strike in Kenya that spanned two days. The strike has been temporarily halted to allow for further discussions.
