NTSA Launches 10-Day Virtual Program for eLogbook Rollout

by KenyaPolls

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has introduced a country-wide 10-day virtual awareness campaign preceding the implementation of electronic logbooks.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, May 12, the Authority revealed that the digital platform will formally substitute the existing paper vehicle registration documents starting Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

In preparation for this shift, NTSA has scheduled virtual training and awareness sessions addressing various segments of the transportation sector across 10 days. These sessions will target transport operators, insurance companies, legal professionals, county administrations, investigative bodies, and the public at large.

The Authority indicated that the awareness schedule will commence on May 25, 2026, focusing initially on vehicle assemblers, bodybuilders, motor vehicle dealers, and motorcycle dealers.

Financial institutions will participate on May 26, followed by diplomatic personnel who will join sessions on May 27, 2026.

Further sessions will include transport network companies, SACCOs, driving schools, school transport providers, PSV operators, taxi services, and tour companies, with ministries, county governments, and governmental agencies also anticipated to take part.

The concluding phase of the awareness initiative, spanning June 2 to June 4, will address the general public through online forums set for 9am and 11am each day.

NTSA has encouraged all stakeholders to register through its official website prior to the deadline of Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Concurrently, the new electronic logbook system will be completely incorporated into all vehicle registration procedures, encompassing ownership transfers, new vehicle registrations, modification of vehicle details, inspections, and associated transactions.

As a result, vehicle proprietors will gain the ability to access, retrieve, and authenticate their registration documents online via the eCitizen platform.

The Authority explained that this measure intends to enhance operational efficiency, decrease processing times, improve document protection, and reduce instances of fraud and misplacement linked to paper-based registration documents.
