The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of intermittent rains and very cold conditions across several parts of the country from Saturday, June 20, to Wednesday, June 23.

Kenya Met says most areas will remain generally dry, while rainfall is expected in the Coast, Central, Western, Rift Valley, and Northern regions.

Central counties, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Meru, and Embu, are expected to record some of the coldest conditions during the forecast period.

Temperatures in the region are expected to drop notably at night and in the early morning, with Monday forecast to be the coldest day.

The weather department also predicts light rains and showers in the area on Saturday, with heavier rainfall expected on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

In Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley, residents should expect showers on several afternoons and evenings over the five-day period.

The counties likely to be affected include Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

Along the Coast, covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and the Tana Delta, showers are expected in several areas during the mornings and afternoons over the next five days.

Despite the expected rainfall, coastal counties are forecast to remain warm throughout the period.

The Meteorological Department also predicts isolated rainfall in parts of northeastern Kenya, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties.

However, northeastern Kenya will remain among the hottest parts of the country, with night temperatures expected to range between 36°C and 37°C during the period under review.

Turkana and Samburu counties in northwestern Kenya are also expected to record high daytime temperatures of up to 36°C, while residents should prepare for chilly nights of between 6°C and 8°C.

Meanwhile, the South-eastern Lowlands, covering Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, are forecast to remain mostly sunny and dry over the five days.

According to the weather department, temperatures in the region will range from 11°C to 16°C at night and in the early morning, rising to about 31°C during the day.
