Kidero Backs Broad-Based Government with Ruto, Odinga

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has endorsed the formation of a broad-based government, emphasizing that Kenya’s stability and future prosperity hinge on unity and inclusivity across political lines.

In a statement, Kidero explained that his stance stems from the necessity to promote national unity and move away from deeply entrenched partisan politics that have historically characterized the nation’s electoral processes.

He contended that the nation is at a pivotal moment where political leaders must embrace dialogue and shared accountability for the common welfare.

Kidero, a UDA representative from the Nyanza region, stated that he has intentionally advocated for cross-party cooperation as part of a wider effort toward what he described as “enlightened leadership.”

“This strategy emphasizes national unity, collective prosperity, and the enduring interests of all Kenyans above party allegiances,” he stated.

He voiced support for Oburu Odinga, head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), especially regarding his ongoing discussions with President William Ruto.

According to Kidero, the negotiations between ODM and UDA leadership offer a unique chance to establish a more inclusive and stable administration.

“These talks represent a historic moment to create a unifying administration that embodies the will and hopes of the Kenyan populace,” Kidero remarked.

He observed that enhanced cooperation between the two principal political groups could establish the foundation for a governance system based on inclusivity, fair development, and political stability.

Looking toward the 2027 General Election, Kidero indicated his backing for President Ruto’s re-election within what he called a comprehensive political framework.

He asserted that such a structure would help reconcile regional and political differences while ensuring all communities feel included in governance.

“Endorsing President Ruto for a second term is not just a political stance; it’s a dedication to a harmonious Kenya,” he emphasized.

Kidero further noted that continuous cooperation among leaders would be essential in tackling persistent national issues, reinforcing institutions, and achieving concrete development results.

“A unified Kenya is a more robust and adaptable Kenya,” he added.

His comments arrive amid increasing political realignments and appeals for dialogue among influential figures as the nation starts to define its political direction for the upcoming electoral period.
