According to the Communications Authority of Kenya’s quarterly audience measurement report covering January to March 2026, news programming captures 46.1% of all television viewership nationally. This significant viewership demonstrates that evening news continues to be an indispensable daily tradition for households across the country. Following news content, scripted dramas and general entertainment serve as the main attractions for viewers. Entertainment and drama series attract a substantial 21.5% of viewers, with movies capturing 13.0% of audience attention. Sports and music programming enjoy nearly equal popularity, representing 11.1% and 11.0% of viewership respectively, indicating a balanced interest in live sporting events and contemporary music programs. The rest of television programming sees scattered viewership across particular categories. Soap operas maintain a 4.7% dedicated audience, followed by religious and inspirational programs at 3.2%, and educational content at 3.1%. Comedy and light entertainment represent only 1.9% of viewer interest, while specialized political programming accounts for 1.7%. Talk shows claim the smallest portion of the audience at 1.6%, completing the distribution of viewing preferences.
