Kenya’s Ordinary Revenue to Grow Over Next Seven Years

Kenya’s National Treasury forecasts a continuing rise in ordinary revenue over the next seven fiscal years, aiming to strengthen public services and national operations through internal sources.

The latest figures show that the government’s regular incomemainly from taxes, fees, levies, and similar channelsis slated to increase year‑by‑year from 2023/24 through 2029/30.

In the 2023/24 cycle, ordinary revenue stands at 2.288 trillion, expected to rise to 2.42 trillion in 2024/25. The upward trend continues with a forecast of 2.784 trillion in 2025/26, and 2.985 trillion approaching the three‑trillion mark in 2026/27.

The medium‑term outlook shows a steeper lift: 2027/28 will see revenue surpassing 3.39 trillion, and the growth is projected to keep accelerating to 3.658 trillion in 2028/29. By 2029/30, ordinary revenue should reach 3.957 trillion.

These figures illustrate a deliberate expansion of domestic mobilization, underscoring the state’s long‑term fiscal strategy to broaden resources for continued public expenditure and routine administration.
