A 2025 remittances household survey report by CBK, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and fsd Kenya has revealed the average transaction costs involved when sending money from the diaspora to Kenya.
The findings outline the average costs in shillings across different formal and informal channels, showing notable differences among providers.
The data indicates that informal and traditional methods such as Hundi are the costliest options, while digital services and cryptocurrency alternatives offer senders the lowest financial burden.
