Judy Nyambura Claims Victory at Ruiru Golf Tournament

Judy Nyambura delivered an exceptional performance to claim the overall championship at the Chairman’s Prize Golf Tournament held at Ruiru Sports Club, prevailing over a competitive field of 300+ golfers in a closely contested competition.

Competing with a handicap of 14, Nyambura secured an outstanding 43 points to win the prestigious title as the tournament brought together golfers from multiple divisions, highlighting the top talent in the regional golf scene.

Following her triumph, Nyambura credited her achievement to maintaining focus and patience throughout the competition.

“I am deeply honored to win the Chairman’s Prize, particularly against such a strong field of over 300 golfers. The competition was challenging, but I maintained my concentration, believed in my abilities, and stayed patient throughout,” she stated.

The champion added, “This win holds great significance for me and inspires me to continue developing my skills and competing at an elevated standard.”

In Division A, Ngumo Kingori (handicap 12) secured the men’s championship with 38 points, narrowly defeating Johnson Ngugi on countback after both competitors tied on the same score. Catherine Wambui dominated the women’s division with 39 points, with Pam Nkirote taking second place at 38 points.

Division B showcased similarly impressive results, with Stephen Kungu claiming the men’s title at 42 points, finishing ahead of Peter Kamau who scored 41 points. Margaret Kariuki led the women’s division with 40 points, while Edith Ngugi placed second with 38 points.

Alex Ndirangu equaled Nyambura’s impressive 43-point total to capture the Division C men’s championship, though Roselene Mwaura delivered the division’s standout performance with 44 points to win the women’s title and achieve one of the tournament’s highest scores.

Kelvin Metto, competing with a handicap of three, demonstrated exceptional skill by earning the Gross Winner award with a score of 77. In the junior division, Melvin Kungu emerged as champion after accumulating 36 points.

Visiting competitors also made significant contributions to the tournament. Chrispin Sankale captured the Guest Men’s division with 40 points, outperforming Paul Mukundi who scored 38 points, while Rose Wachira claimed the Guest Ladies’ title with 36 points.

The competition included special skill challenges, with Terra Saidimu earning the Longest Drive award in the men’s division. Catherine Wambui concluded an outstanding day by capturing both the Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin titles in the women’s category, while Paul Gichu won the men’s Nearest to the Pin award.
