Arsenal supporters in Kenya are preparing to transform Ruiru Sports Club into a red and white haven this week as they convene for a two-day golf tournament commemorating the English Premier League champions’ much-anticipated league championship victory.
The supporter-initiated event is projected to draw over 450 golfers across two days, demonstrating both the increasing popularity of golf and the robust support Arsenal commands in Kenya.
The commemorative activities commence on Thursday, June 4, featuring a distinctive match-play competition where Arsenal loyalists face off against rival golfers.
Event coordinators anticipate participation from more than 200 amateur golfers from Nairobi and neighboring regions in what is anticipated to be an enthusiastic competition.
The celebrations will reach their climax on Saturday, June 6, during the main Gunners Golf Day, where 250 golfers will vie for prestigious honors while honoring Arsenal’s Premier League title following a 22-year drought.
Attendees are being urged to mark the occasion by sporting red and white clothing on the course, with Arsenal jerseys likely to fill the clubhouse and entertainment zones after play.
“This represents a celebration of a dream that Arsenal supporters have waited 22 years to see realized. We aim to organize an occasion that unites fans, enables golfers to engage in friendly competition, and allows us to commemorate this significant achievement in grand fashion,” stated Golf Captain Justus Mathenge.
Organizers note that Thursday’s match-play competition will introduce additional excitement as Arsenal fans seek to establish superiority over rival supporters not just on the football field but also on the golf course.
