The Jubilee Party has formally announced Engineer Wilson Kigwa as their nominee for the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election in Ol Kalou Constituency, initiating a competitive political battle to preserve a seat the party has controlled for many years.

During a press conference at the party headquarters, Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta declared that the party had completed internal deliberations and nomination procedures after receiving applications from numerous aspirants interested in contesting for the position.

Ole Kenta stated that the party leadership, under the supervision of the National Elections Board and discussions with all eligible candidates, had unanimously chosen Engineer Wilson Kigwa to represent Jubilee in the by-election triggered by the passing of former area MP David Kiaraho.

“The Jubilee Party wishes to officially communicate to the people of Ol Kalou constituency and the entire nation that following consultations and nominations, the party has selected Engineer Wilson Kigwa, who will now carry the party’s banner in the forthcoming by-election,” declared Ole Kenta.

He characterized the decision as a reflection of unity and cohesion within the party, noting that all candidates agreed to back a single candidate to enhance Jubilee’s prospects of maintaining the seat.

Ole Kenta emphasized that Jubilee remained deeply established in Ol Kalou, highlighting that the late Kiaraho had served under the party’s banner for three consecutive terms and bequeathed a heritage of development-oriented governance.

“The preparations are now complete for Jubilee in Ol Kalou. The party stands stronger, more focused and more prepared than ever. We are completely mobilized and prepared to engage the people with a message of hope, development, unity and accountable leadership,” he stated.

The Secretary General also expressed appreciation to the other candidates for accepting consensus and supporting Kigwa’s candidacy.

Engineer Kigwa, while accepting the nomination, conveyed his appreciation to his fellow competitors for uniting behind him. He promised to collaborate closely with all Jubilee leaders and supporters to ensure the party keeps the parliamentary seat.

“I want to thank my rivals in Jubilee for agreeing through negotiations that I become the party’s candidate for Ol Kalou constituency. We will work together for the benefit of the people of Ol Kalou,” he stated.

Former aspirant Beatrice Gathoni Kamau announced her complete endorsement of Kigwa, declaring that the party had decided to campaign peacefully and collectively across the constituency.

“We have agreed that Engineer Kigwa will carry the Jubilee flag in Ol Kalou. We will work together and ensure Jubilee maintains this seat,” she said.

Kamau added that Jubilee supporters had remained faithful to the party and were determined to protect the political legacy left by the late Kiaraho.

Jubilee leaders present at the event reiterated that the by-election would be vital in reaffirming the party’s political influence in Nyandarua County and the broader Mt Kenya region.

Among those who addressed the gathering was former governor Francis Kimemia, who stated that Jubilee aimed to restore the constituency’s development agenda and maintain respectful issue-based politics.

“We want to restore the honor and prestige of Ol Kalou as Kiaraho left it under Jubilee leadership. We will concentrate on development, dialogue with citizens, farmers, traders, cooperatives and the youth,” Kimemia said.

He portrayed Kigwa as a highly qualified professional with experience in engineering, electricity, water and solar power initiatives, noting that his background made him capable of continuing the constituency’s development agenda.

Jubilee Director of Elections Kembi Gitura commended both Kigwa and Kamau for demonstrating unity of purpose and prioritizing party interests over personal ambitions.

Gitura stated that the party considered the Ol Kalou seat a Jubilee stronghold and pledged to campaign vigorously to retain it.

Deputy Secretary General Zack Kinuthia used the event to appeal to parties allied under the United Opposition framework to support Jubilee’s candidate and avoid putting forward rival candidates in the by-election.

Kinuthia argued that the seat rightfully belonged to Jubilee since it had been secured by the late Kiaraho under the party’s banner.

“We are appealing to our coalition partners to allow Jubilee to present the sole opposition candidate in Ol Kalou so that we can move forward together in unity,” he said.

He further appealed to young voters, particularly Gen Zs, to support Kigwa, describing him as an educated and development-oriented leader with experience in engineering and modern technologies.

The by-election is anticipated to draw considerable political attention as parties seek to strengthen their support ahead of the 2027 General Election. Jubilee leaders expressed certainty that the party would retain the seat through a unified campaign focused on development, peace and grassroots mobilization.
