A Kiambu-based Jubilee Party politician has warned of public protests if leaders continue to accuse former President Uhuru Kenyatta of engaging in divisive politics.

The politician stated that leaders supporting President William Ruto are insulting the former Head of State, showing disrespect.

Speaking in Limuru town, Stephen Mwangi, popularly known as “Wama connections,” declared they would print T-shirts, make placards, and take any other action to express anger at politicians who criticize Uhuru.

“Even in politics, you cannot accuse a former head of state who served this nation for two terms of being divisive. He left the country united and wishes to see peaceful coexistence among people,” Mwangi stated.

Mwangi, who is contesting for the Limuru parliamentary seat, emphasized that Uhuru deserves significant respect as a leader from whom one can seek guidance.

Government politicians have escalated their accusations against Uhuru, claiming he is practicing divisive politics and attempting to incite people against the current administration.

Led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa, politicians from the Kenya Kwanza coalition intensified their criticism after Uhuru met with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and agreed to collaborate.

Mwangi lamented that Mt Kenya elected officials have been misleading Ruto into believing the region still supports him.

“They have been deceiving Ruto that Mt Kenya backs him due to financial benefits, but in reality, the region is awaiting guidance from Uhuru or Rigathi on the political direction to take in the 2027 general elections.

Mwangi pointed out the erosion of trust between current MPs and the public following Parliament’s tax increases and Gachagua’s impeachment.

“Problems began when taxes were raised through the finance bill, which youth opposed, resulting in deaths and injuries. Another issue was the impeachment of the former Deputy President. We witnessed those responsible. They are our people, but the trust lost cannot be restored,” Mwangi added.
