Funeral Pledge Brings Hope to Nyaribari Chache Family

by KenyaPolls

A promise made during an emotional funeral in Birongo Ward, Nyaribari Chache, has become a source of renewed hope for a grieving family in Kisii County. One week after Justine Nyang’au’s burial, his family remains thankful as parliamentary aspirant Okeng’o Nyambane fulfilled his commitment to support one of the late Nyang’au’s children through school.

At the family’s home in Nyang’eni, relatives noted that many leaders often make emotional promises during funerals, only for these commitments to vanish once mourners depart. This time, however, they emphasized that the situation was different.

According to the family, Okeng’o covered the orphaned child’s school fees for the entire year and supplied groceries to address her immediate needs.

Divinah Moraa, widow of the late Nyang’au, stated that the gesture provided relief during one of the family’s most challenging times. Following her husband’s death, who was the sole breadwinner, she worried her children might be forced to leave school due to financial constraints.

She explained that Okeng’o’s intervention renewed hope and lessened the burden the family had carried since the passing.

Neighbors and local residents characterized the parliamentary aspirant as a compassionate leader whose actions demonstrated authentic concern for everyday people.

His actions have inspired hope among vulnerable families in Birongo Ward and throughout Nyaribari Chache,” stated one neighbor.”

Villagers commended him for showing commitment through action rather than hollow political promises, observing that it is uncommon for leaders to fulfill pledges made during emotional funeral ceremonies.

Following his support to the family, Okeng’o stated that leadership should extend beyond politics and concentrate on standing with people during challenging times.

He mentioned he would keep supporting disadvantaged children and vulnerable families beyond political campaigns, noting that education stands as one of the most effective means for empowering the Kisii community and combating poverty.

Throughout various parts of the Kisii community, funerals have increasingly served as political platforms where elected officials and candidates seek public favor and backing.

During emotionally charged periods following the loss of a parent or guardian, politicians frequently pledge to educate orphaned children, construct homes for bereaved families, or offer financial aid.
