EACC Probes Narok Assembly Floor Brawl

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned 35 Members of the Narok County Assembly regarding a physical altercation that occurred during a House sitting on May 19.

The EACC has initiated an investigation into allegations of unethical conduct involving the lawmakers who reportedly engaged in a fight during the assembly session.

“The EACC has commenced investigations into allegations of unethical conduct involving Members of the County Assembly of Narok who allegedly engaged in physical confrontation on the House floor on 19th May 2026,” stated a source close to the investigation.

Official letters dated June 2 indicate that Narok County Assembly Speaker Davis Solian Dikirr and Clerk Joseph Kasaine Lengeny were scheduled to provide statements at the EACC headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, June 4.

The documents show that Lengeny was required to appear before investigators at 9am, while Dikirr was scheduled for an interview and statement recording at 11am.

Additionally, the other MCAs involved are required to appear before investigators for interviews and statement recording starting Monday, June 8, at the commission’s headquarters.

Preliminary information gathered by investigators suggests that the altercation stemmed from disputes concerning leadership changes in the Narok County Assembly.

According to reports, the session was called to consider an impeachment motion against Finance County Executive Committee Member David Ole Muntet, following accusations by some MCAs of arrogance and obstruction of development projects.

Tensions reportedly heightened when divisions emerged among members regarding the planned removal, and chaos erupted as the Speaker attempted to present proposed leadership changes and bring the motion to a vote.

Lawmakers supporting the impeachment motion vowed to continue pursuing the issue and requested the Office of the Auditor-General to examine the county’s spending.

In previous cases of physical confrontations within County Assembly premises, MCAs have been suspended from both the House and its proceedings.
