Caleb Amisi Thanks ODM Kakamega Delegates for Defending Him and Sifuna

by KenyaPolls

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has publicly expressed his gratitude to delegates from Kakamega County after they came out in full support of him and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna. On July 26, 2025, Amisi took to social media to praise the delegates for resisting what he described as intimidation and divide-and-rule tactics allegedly used by senior party figures opposed to the broad-based government deal.
Amisi warned that some top-level ODM officials were attempting to undermine internal unity by targeting dissenters — including himself and Sifuna. He praised the Kakamega delegates for standing firm, saying their courage reaffirmed his belief that the Western Kenya region should not be manipulated or sidelined in national decision-making. Divide and rule shall never be a political tool again, he stated, pledging his continued fight for equitable governance.
His remarks come amid deepening fault lines inside ODM, particularly around the party’s direction and its relationship with the current national government. Some party members have been critical of Sifuna’s stance on the broad-based government, but the Kakamega delegates’ defence appears to signal a growing bloc of insiders committed to preserving internal debate and resisting what they see as heavy-handed tactics.
Looking ahead, this moment could further embolden Amisi and Sifuna’s allies within ODM to push back against perceived centralised control. If the Western faction sustains its momentum, it may reshape the balance of power in the party — especially ahead of the 2027 election cycle when internal party cohesion and grassroots backing will be crucial.
