The Jubilee Party has launched a nationwide restructuring ahead of the 2027 general elections, promising credible and transparent internal nominations. Speaking at a delegates’ meeting in Thika Greens, Murang’a County, Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said the party was determined to avoid the chaos witnessed in past contests and assured that no aspirant would be unfairly favoured in the upcoming selection processes.
In his address, Kioni underlined that internal democracy and party unity are foundational to public trust and electoral fortunes. He stressed that Jubilee would strictly implement its constitution and nomination rules, emphasising a level playing field for all members. The meeting, attended by party leader Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i, also focused on re-energising grassroots structures across regions.
The party’s stated commitment to fairness has sparked interest in Kenya’s political circles, many of whom view this re-alignment as Jubilee’s attempt to reforge itself as a serious contender ahead of the next elections. While supporters see this as a positive step toward accountability and internal reform, some critics remain sceptical, arguing that the real test will come when aspirants from various factions are judged on the actual enforcement of the new rules.
Looking ahead, Jubilee’s ambitions to rebuild its base and restore discipline and loyalties signal a clear push to influence the 2027 electoral terrain. How effectively it manages the nomination process and delivers on its promise of a fair contest may determine whether it regains strength as a national force.
