Kerio Valley Residents Voluntarily Surrender Over 700 Illegal Firearms as Peace Prevails
Kerio Valley, 14 November 2025 – The Interior Cabinet Secretary, Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, has confirmed that peace in the Kerio Valley is now permanent, following community efforts to resolve conflicts and enhance security.
Speaking during a recent public address, CS Murkomen revealed that more than 700 illegal firearms have been voluntarily surrendered by residents. He emphasized that the cooperation of local communities has been pivotal in maintaining stability in the region.
In addition, the CS announced plans to construct an airstrip in Tot within the next year to improve access and enhance security operations. Residents and local leaders have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that infrastructure development will boost economic activities and further consolidate peace in the valley.
