Makueni businessman Stephen Ngei, founder of Makindu Motors Ltd, and his wife, Giannaphina Mumbua Ngei, have died after a fatal road accident at Masimba in Makueni County.
The couple reportedly died in the crash on Friday evening, sending shockwaves through Makueni County and the wider Ukambani region.
Their deaths have been met with grief and disbelief, as leaders, friends and members of the business community mourned the loss of a man widely regarded as one of the region’s most successful entrepreneurs and investors.
Mr. Ngei founded Makindu Motors Ltd, an automobile firm involved in the assembly and sale of motorcycles and other motor vehicles.
Another family member who was travelling with them sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment.
The accident happened as they were on their way to Nairobi.
