President William Ruto on Sunday committed Sh10 million to Gor Mahia Football Club and declared a cash reward of Sh100,000 for each player while accepting the Kenyan Premier League trophy at State House, Nairobi.

The President revealed his intentions during a ceremony organized to honor the league champions, commending the team’s discipline and accomplishments during the season.

Ruto also promised ongoing government backing for sports advancement, stating that the Ministry of Sports would develop strategies to cultivate and sustain talent throughout the nation.

“First, we will dine together. I observe that you are an orderly team. Some individuals arrive here and state the sum they desire. I will arrange for each of you to depart with Sh100,000 initially. For the team, the chairman shall provide your account details and I will facilitate Sh10 million, and in the days ahead you may seek me out,” Ruto stated.

“The Sports Cabinet Secretary will guarantee that the government arranges for the support of your talents.”

The financial assistance arrives as Gor Mahia commemorates another fruitful league season.
