Alliance High School has been indefinitely closed following a fire that erupted at the school’s mattress store Thursday morning, according to informed sources.

The school principal, David Chomba, confirmed the incident, noting that the blaze was quickly contained and did not impact students or academic buildings.

As a precaution, school officials requested parents to collect their children from the premises.

Reports indicate the fire started around 4 am, with emergency responders promptly arriving to control the flames before they could spread to other structures on campus.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire, with initial examinations likely focusing on the circumstances surrounding the early morning blaze.

The Alliance High School fire occurs amid nationwide concerns about student unrest and similar fire incidents at schools.

Recently, several educational institutions have indefinitely closed due to student disturbances and suspected arson, including Loreto High School Limuru, Lenana School, and Moi Forces Academy.

This incident follows the Nakuru County tragedy, which claimed 16 student lives and injured more than 70 others.

Investigators suspect that tragedy was an arson attack, resulting in the arrest and charging of at least 9 individuals while investigations continue.

In the meantime, parents and education officials have been encouraged to take an active role in mentoring students to address the increasing unrest in senior secondary schools.

On Monday, June 1, in Imenti South Sub-County, Forestry Principal Secretary Gitonga Mugambi characterized the growing number of school fires as alarming, warning they pose a significant threat to the nation’s education system.

Mugambi stressed the importance of teachers and communities in fostering discipline among students and establishing secure learning environments.
