East African maize prices decline

According to recent food security data from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Kenya experienced a minor decrease in maize prices from March to April 2026.

The data indicates that Kenya’s average maize price decreased from $441 (Sh57,000) per metric ton in March to $431 (Sh55,700) in April.

South Sudan maintained the highest maize prices in the region, though they decreased from $1,095 to $1,024 per metric ton. Both Uganda and Rwanda also saw price reductions, whereas Ethiopia experienced an increase from $330 to $381.

Among the East African countries surveyed, Tanzania recorded the lowest maize prices at $308 per metric ton in April.
