Man Charged in Child Trafficking Using Fake ‘Rescue Centers’

A 27-year-old Almasi Rama Amos, accused of involvement in a child trafficking and sexual exploitation network, appeared in Shanzu Law Courts following an intelligence operation conducted by Mombasa County detectives.
The suspect was apprehended by officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU) together with Regional Criminal Investigations Office (RCIO) Mombasa personnel after extensive inquiries into reports targeting vulnerable young girls.
Investigators tracked the suspect to his concealment location in Nguu Tatu Estate within Concordia, Kisauni Sub-County, where he was discovered in the presence of three underage females.
Initial inquiries have revealed a concerning operation where the suspect purportedly operates “rescue centers” throughout Mombasa and Kilifi counties under the guise of nurturing and mentoring young girls.
Beneath this exterior, the establishments were utilized venues for the sexual exploitation and mistreatment of minors.
Additionally, the suspect guided authorities to a location in Ribe, Rabai Sub-County, where officials rescued nineteen more underage females, increasing the total count of rescued individuals to twenty-two.
During today’s appearance at Shanzu Law Courts, the suspect confronted multiple accusations, such as defilement, child trafficking for sexual exploitation, advancement of child trafficking, and child mistreatment, among other grave violations.
He entered pleas of not guilty to the charges and was denied bail. The matter is set for review on June 8, 2026.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains dedicated to shielding children from exploitation, mistreatment, and trafficking, and those implicated in such abhorrent acts will be persistently pursued and held accountable,” stated DCI in an official communication.
