Police are investigating the death of a 47-year-old businessman discovered murdered in Kiambu county on Thursday evening.
Kimani Kamau, commonly known as “Kim” at Nyambari trading center in Lari constituency, was discovered outside his establishment called “Silent Bar” during torrential rainfall.
Detectives handling the case reported that the victim was found by individuals passing by after 11 p.m. while they were returning home.
According to reports, since the bar is situated behind a three-story building, tenants who discovered the body were shocked and began screaming.
“We were heading home near his bar when we noticed someone lying in a pool of blood. The adjacent bar was still open, and it was raining intensely. One of us screamed, which drew many people to the scene,” stated Antony Mungai, a local resident.
Mungai explained that locals recognized the victim and notified his family, government administrators, and the police, who arrived promptly.
Kimani’s friend Stephen Kimemia characterized him as industrious, noting that he owned a bar, a hotel, and engaged in various other business ventures.
“He was a respected, humble person who spoke loudly because he valued everyone. He treated all people as customers,” Kimemia added.
Nevertheless, bar proprietors have expressed concerns about security, emphasizing that while the murder is being considered an isolated incident, security measures need to be enhanced.
“Security in this area is not a matter of concern for us. What we require now is increased police patrols to prevent people from being attacked and killed by criminals,” stated Jacquiline Wamaitha, a bar attendant.
However, an officer who preferred anonymity due to his rank mentioned that investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances and potentially apprehend the perpetrator.
