The Kenya Kwanza Administration has achieved substantial progress in addressing security challenges nationwide, with recent data revealing a significant reduction in criminal activities, according to Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

“In the Kerio Valley region, we have made considerable progress in combating banditry and seized more than 2,000 unregistered firearms through our ongoing disarmament campaign,” Murkomen noted, emphasizing that the government has enhanced operations against terrorism, criminal organizations, and the battle against drug and substance misuse.

He highlighted that these accomplishments have been validated by the Economic Survey published this week, which documented a 10% decrease in criminal incidents.

While acknowledging these achievements, the Cabinet Secretary recognized sporadic security issues in certain regions, including recent tensions along the boundaries between Kitui and Garissa counties and Kitui and Tana River counties.

The CS reassured the public that authorities are diligently working to resolve these conflicts.

“We have stationed additional security forces and are maintaining dialogue with local leaders and communities to implement sustainable solutions to these disputes,” he stated.

Murkomen made these remarks during a Community Empowerment Initiative in Metkei, Elgeyo Marakwet County, organized by the County MP Caroline Ngelechei.

The Cabinet Secretary also advised residents in the vicinity and Kenyans generally to follow weather forecasts during the current rainy season.
