Antoine Moses, the current Guinness World Record holder for the most trees planted in 24 hours, has achieved a remarkable new global milestone by successfully planting 47,460 mangrove propagules within a single day.
The extraordinary accomplishment was finalized at precisely 08:01 on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Mirarani in Tudor Creek, Mombasa County. Following an intensive 24-hour planting session, the final count was verified, leading to jubilant festivities at the location.

Mangroves rank among the planet’s most vulnerable ecosystems, playing a vital role in mitigating climate change, coastal erosion, and storm impacts.
The record attempt received backing from the Kenya Forest Service, local communities, and conservation partners such as Earthlungs.
This recent achievement arrives as Guinness World Records evaluates another attempt by Kenyan athlete Hillary Kibiwott to surpass Moses’ prior record for terrestrial tree planting, enhancing Kenya’s presence in worldwide conservation initiatives.
The Kenya Forest Service characterized the event as “a defining moment of resilience, purpose, and environmental leadership on the world stage.”
