Police Officer Kazungu Honored as Burial Arranged in Kilifi

Leaders and security officials in Kisii County have paid glowing tribute to police officer Kazungu Charo who died recently.
Those who spoke during Charo’s requiem mass described him as calm, hardworking, and committed to peace, as burial plans were finalized ahead of his send-off in Kilifi County.
Kisii County Police Commander Ronald Kirui described Kazungu as a calm and dedicated officer, and asked anyone he may have wronged to forgive him.
He also conveyed condolences to the family and friends.

Kitutu Central Deputy County Commissioner Linda Jaleta termed the death painful, urging mourners to remain steadfast in faith.
She noted that Kazungu worked well with everyone without discrimination, particularly through the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi said the officer had served in several regions, including Narok and Trans Nzoia, where leaders and residents also sent messages of condolence.
Kibagendi described Kazungu as a peace champion, noting that during the Finance Bill protests, he chose dialogue with the youth over confrontation.
He also credited him with helping resolve long-standing land disputes, fostering unity in the community.

Kisii Woman Representative Doris Donya pledged support to the bereaved family, offering two fully fueled vehicles for mourners traveling to Kilifi and KSh 50,000 towards the education of the officer’s children.
A representative of Governor Simba Arati, George Morara, said the county government was supporting funeral arrangements.
He revealed that the governor had engaged his Kilifi counterpart to coordinate the burial, and had contributed KSh 100,000 to facilitate transport for mourners.
Leaders urged residents to stand with the family and remember Kazungu for his service and dedication to unity.
The officer’s body will be taken to Nyanchwa Police Station for viewing before being transported to Kisumu Airport, where a police aircraft will fly it to Mombasa.
It will then be taken to Mtwapa, his birthplace, before burial in Mavueni, Kilifi North sub-county, on Saturday, April 25.
