Siaya Governor James Orengo has revealed that media personality Willis Raburu has joined the Linda Mwananchi Movement and will be vying for the Kisumu Senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Orengo, who disclosed the information through his social media channels, mentioned that he had a private meeting with Raburu and expressed enthusiasm about his joining.

He characterized Raburu as bringing youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and a creative media background to the movement.

“Today, I had an engaging conversation with Willis Raburu. He’s officially contributing his signature youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and creative media edge to the Linda Mwananchi Movement,” Orengo stated.

Orengo also disclosed that Raburu will be contesting for the Kisumu County Senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

“Willis is contesting for the Kisumu Senatorial seat, and we are delighted he has chosen to join us, a movement driven by the aspirations of youth and a commitment to a better Kenya,” Orengo wrote.

Raburu’s entry into politics follows his departure from Cape Media’s TV47 in April 2024.

He had joined TV47 in August 2023, and while at the Cape Media station, Raburu hosted the Wabebe Experience show every Friday at 10 p.m.

The program featured artists including singers, spoken word performers, and dancers who presented their creative works.

The Linda Mwananchi movement consists of ODM’s young politicians who oppose the leadership of Oburu Oginga.

Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Richard Onyonka, Godfrey Osotsi, Anthony Kibagendi, Caleb Amisi, Clive Gisairo, Obadiah Barongo, and Caroli Omondi count among the movement’s members.

This faction opposes the ODM party supporting President Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement, Mashemeji Derby Edition, plans to hold rallies in Vihiga on Saturday 25th April and in Kisumu on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
