The United Democratic Alliance and Orange Democratic Movement have concluded to establish a Broad-Based Management Committee aimed at coordinating governmental affairs and enhancing their collaborative partnership. The agreement was finalized during a joint consultative session on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at State House in Nairobi, which included members from both the UDA Steering Committee and the ODM Central Management Committee. A joint communiqué released after the meeting and signed by President William Ruto as UDA Party Leader and Senator Oburu Oginga representing ODM indicated that the Broad-Based Management Committee will incorporate party leaders, designated Cabinet Ministers, as well as the Majority and Minority Leaders in Parliament. The committee’s primary responsibility will involve “coordinating and synchronizing the legislative and executive agenda of government to ensure coherence, efficiency, and effective service delivery.” The statement additionally mentioned that both parties will persist with structured and regular consultations across all party structures to build consensus on critical national matters and establish groundwork for a formal coalition of equals. Both parties reasserted their dedication to “constructive dialogue, unity of purpose, and a shared vision for national development and inclusive governance.” This accord represents a notable advancement in institutionalizing the continuous UDA-ODM cooperation that has followed extensive high-level discussions.
