The Jubilee Party has announced plans to participate in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election while encouraging opposition groups to consolidate behind a single nominee under its leadership.
In an official statement, the party recognized the late David Kiaraho, the Ol Kalou MP whose passing necessitated the special election. Jubilee characterized him as “a leader whose life was characterized by modesty, dedication, and an unyielding connection with his constituents,” noting that the nation continues to mourn following his funeral arrangements.
Regarding the upcoming electoral contest in Ol Kalou Constituency, the party confirmed: “The Party will present a candidate in the forthcoming Ol Kalou by-election,” highlighting that the seat was previously occupied by a Jubilee representative.
It also sought to assure voters, promising “open, impartial, and unambiguous nominations that embody democratic principles and popular sentiment.”
Jubilee positioned the by-election as a wider political examination, urging aligned parties to form a cohesive alliance.
“In the interest of establishing a credible, cohesive, and powerful alternative administration… Jubilee Party respectfully requests our coalition allies to endorse the nomination of a unified opposition candidate,” the statement conveyed.
The party contended that public demand for collaborative efforts is intensifying across the nation.
“This represents a pivotal juncture for the opposition… Kenyans are becoming more expressive and steadfast in their insistence on collective purpose,” it declared, noting that citizens now favor “collaboration rather than rivalry, solidarity over division, and strategic planning over transient political gains.”
To substantiate its stance, Jubilee referenced previous instances, citing joint efforts in by-elections in Mbeere North Constituency and Emurua Dikirr Constituency.
In those electoral events, the party indicated it either withdrew or supported shared candidates to reinforce a unified opposition fronta methodology it termed “deliberate, principled, and consistent with Kenyan expectations.”
While advocating for unity in Ol Kalou, the party made evident its preparation for a comprehensive national electoral campaign.
“For absolute clarity… the Jubilee Party will propose candidates in all electoral positions nationwide, from the MCAs to the President in the future general elections, 2027,” the statement concluded.
The communication was signed by Secretary General Moitale Ole Kenta.
