KANU Officials in Kiambu Vow to Reclaim Properties Amid Recruitment Drive

The Kiambu County KANU Branch disclosed plans for extensive recruitment drives in preparation for the 2027 General Elections, aiming to enroll more than 200 members per ward.

Addressing reporters at their Indian Bazaar offices in Kiambu town, Party County Branch Chairman Joseph Mukiraiwho also serves as Mt. Kenya Chairmandescribed this as a comprehensive initiative that would reach all parts of the county.

”We stand on solid foundations as the oldest party and possess all necessary resources to advance our initiative,” Mukirai stated.

He confirmed the party would present candidates for all positions, including MCA, MP, Women Representative, Senator, and Governor. ”We encourage all interested individuals to apply, as our party is recognized for conducting free and fair selections,” Mr. Mukirai emphasized.

He revealed they would conduct vigorous campaigns without forming alliances with any coalitions, operating independently.

Simultaneously, Party County Secretary General David Sakina issued a warning to individuals claiming ownership of party-associated properties, stating they would reclaim them and prevent any unauthorized appropriation.

”I issue a firm warning to those asserting title to our properties: we will reclaim them,” Mr. Sakina declared.

He cautioned the public about this scheme, noting similar incidents have been reported previously, and advised thorough verification before engaging in any transactions.

KANU served as the ruling party for approximately 40 years under the leadership of the late former President Daniel Moi, later transitioning to his son Gideon Moi, while Mr. George Wainaina (GEWA)a former long-serving Kiambu County Party Chairmanassumed the position of National Secretary General.
