The East African Community has issued a call for abstracts preceding the 2nd EAC Regional Education Conference scheduled for August 24-28, 2026, in Nairobi.
Organized in partnership with RELI Africa and various education stakeholders, the event will gather policymakers, educators, researchers, development partners, private sector representatives, and civil society members from throughout the region and internationally.
Under the theme “Transforming Education in East Africa: From Commitments to Impact, Fostering Resilience and Future-Ready Systems for Sustainable Development,” the conference intends to serve as a venue for knowledge exchange, policy discussions, and collaborative efforts to enhance educational outcomes.
Prior to the conference, EAC Deputy Secretary General Hon. Andrea Aguer Ariik Malueth emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing education throughout the bloc.
“Enhancing foundational learning outcomes stands as a primary focus for the East African Community as we strive to develop a skilled and competitive workforce. This conference will create an essential platform for stakeholders to share expertise, build partnerships, and implement solutions that improve learning for every child in the region,” she stated.
Organizers indicate the conference will concentrate on reinforcing basic literacy and numeracy skills, advancing teacher professional growth, and advocating for inclusive and fair learning settings.
Discussions will additionally examine educational innovation, digital learning technologies, policy-making grounded in evidence, and collaborative ventures between public and private sectors.
The gathering is also anticipated to progress the East African Common Higher Education Area by encouraging standardization of higher education frameworks and fortifying regional cooperation in research and innovation.
In preparation for the event, the EAC and RELI Africa have called upon researchers, academics, education practitioners, policy specialists, and students to submit abstracts for conference presentations.
This invitation provides a chance to present research outcomes, novel methods, and real-world experiences that contribute to the progress of basic education in East Africa.
Key thematic areas of focus encompass early and basic education, teacher capability enhancement, inclusive education, educational technology and innovation, TVET and youth skill development, educational funding and administration, decisions based on data, and regional alliances.
Submitted abstracts will face a thorough evaluation process, with chosen authors invited to present their work at the conference. The submission deadline is April 26, 2026, with comprehensive guidelines accessible on the official conference platform.
The 2nd EAC Regional Education Conference builds upon its initial iteration and is projected to reinforce regional cooperation, highlight expandable educational solutions, and enhance partnerships devoted to elevating educational standards throughout East Africa.
