Stars Back Omondi’s Charity Walk to Busia

Several Kenyan celebrities gathered in Nairobi on Monday morning, March 2, 2026, to launch comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi’s charity walk from the capital to Busia.

Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, led the supporters by officially launching the activist’s journey.

Omondi has begun a demanding 466-kilometre walk from Nairobi to the Busia border to raise funds for the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre completion.

Recently, Omondi and his Team Sisi Kwa Sisi received multiple humanitarian awards recognizing the movement’s community support impact.

According to his social media announcement, the team earned the Social Impact Transformational Award and the Humanitarian Service and Community Leadership Award at the Kenya Social Impact Awards, an event honoring organizations and individuals using their influence for positive social change.

This is not the first recognition for Sisi Kwa Sisi. In December 2025, Omondi and his team received the “Humanitarian Impact of the Year” Award at the Pride of Kenya Awards, where the movement was acknowledged for its outreach to vulnerable communities.

During his acceptance, Omondi dedicated the award to supporters who have contributed to the cause.

Earlier recognition came in late 2024 when Omondi was named Humanitarian of the Year by the National Council of Community-Based Organizations (NCBOC) at a Nairobi Serena Hotel awards gala, where he was praised for mobilizing resources to assist Kenyans in need through his philanthropic campaigns.

The Sisi Kwa Sisi movement has been active for several years, using public mobilization to help individuals and communities facing hardship, including fundraising campaigns for medical bills, education support, and emergency relief.

Omondi’s philanthropic approach combines celebrity influence with grassroots support, inviting ordinary Kenyans to contribute whatever they can toward collective needs.

His current walk builds on his earlier 486-kilometre “Walk of Love” from Nairobi to Mombasa in February 2026, which drew national attention and helped raise funds for the rescue centre project.

Organizers describe the Busia walk as both a fundraising initiative and a means to directly engage communities along the route.

The Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre, central to these campaigns, is planned as a community support hub that could provide emergency services, medical outreach, storage facilities, and other programs once sufficient funds are secured.

The Nairobi to Busia walk represents another chapter in Omondi’s efforts to sustain the project and expand its impact throughout Kenya.
