NEDP Candidate Backs UDA’s Tubi in Isiolo South By-Election

Isack Abduba Fayo, representing the National Economic Development Party (NEDP), has exited the Isiolo South by-election contest, endorsing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Tubi Mohamed Tubi just prior to the February 26 voting.

This departure substantially reduces the competitive landscape for the upcoming elections, enhancing UDA’s prospects in a region the governing party seeks to firmly bring within its political influence.

President William Ruto, serving concurrently as UDA Party Leader, has publicly commended Fayo’s choice, characterizing it as a well-timed and valiant decision indicative of the accelerating momentum supporting his administration’s development initiatives.

“Fayo’s action represents a significant advancement in bringing Isiolo County together in support of our government’s comprehensive and inclusive development framework,” remarked President Ruto.

The head of state also seized the moment to reiterate his administration’s commitment to resolving persistent national disparities, promising sustained attention to areas that have traditionally been disadvantaged.

He conveyed thanks for the extensive public endorsement his government continues to enjoy, attributing this directly to the nationwide embrace of economic transformation.

“I am grateful for the backing I receive from the vast majority of Kenyan citizens in support of our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Strategy,” the President commented during the gathering.

The meeting featured prominent UDA figures, such as Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan and Executive Director Nicodemus Bore.

Also attending were Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo and respected community leader Charfana Guyo Mokku, demonstrating the diverse local coalition supporting UDA’s Tubi candidacy.

The Isiolo South by-election stands as one of four supplementary elections recently confirmed.

Additional contested positions include three County Assembly Ward seats: Muminji Ward and Evurore Ward in Embu County, along with West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County.

The February 26 elections follow a broader series of special elections conducted on November 27, 2025, which encompassed 24 electoral districts, comprising one Senate position and six National Assembly constituencies nationwide.

Those November elections included constituencies in Baringo, Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja, among 17 County Assembly wards, serving as an important measure of political sentiment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following Fayo’s withdrawal, UDA’s Tubi Mohamed Tubi enters the campaign’s final phase as the leading candidate, fortified by presidential endorsement and a growing support network within Isiolo South.
