arok County Disburses KSh 450 Million Bursary Fund to 45,000 Students

The Narok County Government has launched the disbursement of the 2024/2025 bursary fund amounting to KSh 450 million, targeting 45,000 students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the county. The event, presided over by Governor Patrick Keturet Ole Ntutu, marks the third major bursary rollout since 2022, bringing the total amount allocated to education support to KSh 1.2 billion in just three years.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Ntutu emphasized the county’s commitment to ensuring that no learner is locked out of school due to financial challenges. He noted that the bursary initiative, together with the ongoing full scholarship programme that currently supports 1,600 learners, is designed to uplift needy students and strengthen the county’s long-term human capital development. Through this latest round of funding, we aim to support the education of 45,000 students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions. This support complements our full scholarship programme and continues to build hope and opportunities for our youth, he said.

After unveiling the bursary program, the Governor began issuing cheques to 1,432 beneficiaries from Mosiro Ward, where KSh 12 million has been allocated for the current financial year. He also addressed concerns over duplicate allocations and urged ward administrators and committees to ensure the funds reach the most deserving students. The county will continue distributing cheques across all wards as part of its broader mission to expand access to education and reduce inequalities among learners from diverse backgrounds.
