Samburu County is set to host the 37th edition of the Rhino Charge this month, assembling participants, conservation advocates, sponsors, and adventure lovers for one of Kenya’s premier conservation fundraising occasions.

In preparation for the event, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), represented by its premium heritage beer brand White Cap Lager, has committed KES 2.3 million as sponsorship for this year’s edition, demonstrating the private sector’s dedication to environmental conservation and safeguarding Kenya’s vital ecosystems and water sources.

Under the organization of Rhino Ark Charitable Trust, the Rhino Charge has accumulated over KES 2.7 billion since its beginning in 1989, funding conservation programs across essential ecosystems such as the Aberdare Range, Mount Kenya, Mau Forest Complex, and Kakamega Forest.

At the sponsorship announcement event, KBL Senior Brand Manager Rediet Yigezu noted that White Cap’s ongoing alliance with the Rhino Charge demonstrates the brand’s connection to conservation, sustainability, and ethical outdoor activities.

“White Cap sees the Rhino Charge not merely as an exciting motorsport competition, but as a crucial medium for environmental responsibility. With this sponsorship, we are honored to support the preservation of Kenya’s natural assets and back conservation initiatives that directly benefit communities and ecosystems nationwide,” she stated.

In addition to backing the primary event, White Cap Lager will sponsor four participating teams in this year’s challenge: Geco Chargers, Bush Babes, Charging Hippos, and EV Explorers.

“Alongside supporting the event, we are particularly pleased to endorse teams like Geco Chargers, Bush Babes, Charging Hippos, and EV Explorers, who genuinely represent the adventurous ethos, determination, and conservation mission of the Rhino Charge. Their involvement shows the increasing enthusiasm among Kenyans to directly contribute to environmental protection while displaying cooperation and creativity in one of the nation’s most demanding motorsport events,” Yigezu added.

The current edition has drawn a complete roster of 65 competition vehicles, featuring seven newcomers, underscoring the event’s rising popularity among emerging conservation advocates.

The 2026 Rhino Charge will take place across Samburu County’s challenging semi-arid landscape and vibrant cultural backdrop under the theme “Adventure, Community, Conservation.”

Recent achievements by Rhino Ark include the installation of a 32-kilometre electric fence along the northern edge of South Western Mau Forest, ongoing fencing activities in Mount Kenya and Kakamega Forest areas, and the creation of an Endowment Fund designed to ensure sustainable long-term funding for conservation projects.

Events will commence with vehicle inspections on May 29, proceed with the main competition on May 30, and wrap up on May 31.
