Top Diaspora Remittances to Kenya

by KenyaPolls

The United States continues to be the leading source of diaspora remittances to Kenya, significantly surpassing all other global regions in the first quarter. Recent statistics from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) reveal the capital inflows from January to March for both 2025 and 2026. Despite American dominance, shifting economic patterns are emerging across key European and Middle Eastern corridors. US inflows decreased slightly from $652.47 million in Q1 2025 to $622.63 million in Q1 2026. Despite this modest decline, the American market still provides more than the combined total of the next five highest-remitting countries. Conversely, the United Kingdom experienced a substantial increase in remittance amounts, rising from $78.41 million in 2025 to $100.35 million in 2026. Other significant sources showed steady growth between the two periods. Financial flows from Australia increased from $56.03 million to $65.31 million, while remittances from Germany rose from $46.52 million to $56.73 million. In the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) demonstrated positive growth, increasing from $37.20 million to $51.02 million. In contrast, Saudi Arabia witnessed a substantial decrease in remittance volumes, falling by more than half from $98.67 million in Q1 2025 to only $46.99 million in Q1 2026.
