The Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) has spearheaded the tributes following the demise of seasoned sports broadcaster Paul Kimani Kaberia, widely recognized as ‘Diblo El Mago Taaarifaa’, characterizing him as a committed professional whose impact made an enduring impression on Kenya’s sports media landscape.

Through a statement released on Sunday, SJAK expressed its “profound sorrow” over the unexpected death of its member and colleague, who succumbed after receiving care at Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital following a brief illness.

The association commended Diblo for his dedication to sports reporting and his skill in engaging audiences through radio broadcasts.

Prior to his passing, Diblo served as a sports presenter at Radio Jambo, where SJAK noted his “vibrant enthusiasm” and “unique vocal tone” connected with millions of listeners nationwide.

“He was an extraordinary narrator who enlivened the airwaves and advanced sports journalism in Kenya,” the association stated.

SJAK also emphasized Diblo’s involvement in the association outside professional duties, portraying him as a valued member of SJAK FC who motivated colleagues both during and after sports activities.

“He was an essential part of SJAK FC, where his abilities, fellowship, and steadfast sportsmanship on and off the field brought significant happiness to the organization,” the statement mentioned.

SJAK President James Waindi indicated the association had lost more than just a media professional.

“We have lost not merely a talented journalist, but a companion and teammate whose zeal for sports was clear in all his endeavors,” Waindi remarked.

“Diblo’s departure creates a substantial gap in the sports journalism community and within SJAK FC.”

The association noted Diblo’s role in the sports media community made him a wellspring of “enduring kindness and motivation” for fellow journalists.

SJAK offered sympathies to Diblo’s family, coworkers at Radio Jambo and the broader media community, affirming it stands with them “in mourning and unity” during this challenging time.

The organization concluded its homage by wishing the late journalist’s spirit eternal peace.
