The government pledged to ensure justice for those responsible for the attack that resulted in
the death of gospel musician Rachel Wandetto, who passed away from her injuries on
Monday morning at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen characterized the killing as a pointless act driven
by political intolerance and hate.

“We will ensure the individuals responsible for this pointless act face justice. Rachel will receive
justice,” he stated.

According to officials, Wandetto was assaulted by what they described as “a
despicable and intolerant group” before being hospitalized, where she
subsequently died.

Her demise was labeled “deeply troubling,” with Murkomen cautioning against the
escalating trend of political violence and discord in the nation.

“In contemporary society, no individual should face harm or death because of their political beliefs
or connections. Those spreading hate-filled, violent, and divisive politics should reflect on
their actions,” he remarked.

The officials revealed they had visited Wandetto at Kenyatta National
Hospital on Sunday evening, where she demonstrated strength despite her critical condition.

“When I visited Rachel at the hospital last night, her expression showed remarkable
resilience and bravery. It is truly regrettable that she lost her battle,” the CS shared on X.

Murkomen also extended condolences to Wandetto’s family and friends, promising
them support during their period of mourning.

“I would like to offer my sincere condolences to her family and friends for this
heartbreaking loss. The government stands with you during this time of profound sorrow,” he said.
