The Kenyan government has enhanced preparations for the upcoming Africa Forward Summit, with senior officials demonstrating confidence in the nation’s ability to host one of Africa’s most important global forums.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi stated that arrangements for the prominent summit, set for May 11–12 in Nairobi, have reached an advanced stage. He emphasized that organizing a world-class event will require flawless coordination across all government departments.
Mudavadi disclosed that he organized a high-level session bringing together Cabinet colleagues to evaluate progress, streamline responsibilities, and strengthen execution strategies before the summit. The gathering will be jointly hosted by President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The anticipated summit will draw more than 4,000 participants, including over 30 African Heads of State and Government. Leaders will focus on key thematic areas designed to enhance partnerships in innovation, increase investment, and expedite economic growthessential components in job creation and socio-economic transformation, especially for Africa’s youth.
Among those attending the preparatory meeting were Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor and multiple Cabinet Secretaries, including Aden Duale, Alice Wahome, Deborah Barasa, Davis Chirchir, Hassan Joho, Rebecca Miano, Salim Mvurya, Julius Ogamba, William Kabogo, Mutahi Kagwe, Lee Kinyanjui, Geoffrey Ruku, and Hanna Cheptumo.
Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’oei, informed the team about logistics, noting that the summit will be among the largest international events ever staged in Nairobi.
Mudavadi characterized the forum as a pivotal moment for the continent, establishing Nairobi as the center of crucial discussions shaping Africa’s future. He highlighted that the summit will concentrate on seven primary agenda items under a collective vision of advancing Africa’s development priorities.
“We have dedicated months of preparation to ensure that when the global community gathers in Nairobi, Africa offers a united voice, clear objectives, and dedicated partners prepared to propel progress forward,” he remarked.
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, affirmed the government’s dedication to a collaborative, whole-government approach in conducting a successful summit. He mentioned that his ministry is emphasizing robust digital infrastructure, secure communication networks, and dependable connectivity to facilitate the event while displaying Kenya’s leadership in digital transformation.
Kabogo added that continuous inter-ministerial consultations have been vital in aligning government initiatives and guaranteeing effective implementation of national development goals.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale emphasized the summit’s capacity to promote health innovation and reinforce pharmaceutical manufacturing throughout the continent. He noted that the Ministry of Health is implementing thorough public health measures and medical readiness to ensure the safety and welfare of all attendees.
Duale labeled the summit as historic, representing the first instance the Africa Forward Summit will occur on African territory. He stressed its significance in solidifying Kenya’s status as a continental center for diplomacy, cooperation, and innovation.
As Nairobi readies to host the international assembly, government officials assert that the Africa Forward Summit will not only enhance Kenya’s global standing but also establish the foundation for a new era of partnerships focused on realizing Africa’s complete potential.
