Kenya Allocates Sh4.8 Trillion for 2026/27 Budget

Kenya’s budget proposal for the 2026/27 fiscal year amounts to Sh4.8 trillion, with education securing the highest share as the government emphasizes learning, security, and infrastructure development.

According to Treasury estimates, total revenues will reach Sh3.6 trillion, resulting in a fiscal deficit of Sh1.1 trillion, which represents 5.3 percent of the country’s GDP.

The education sector receives Sh668.3 billion, constituting 28.5 percent of the total budget, while national security is allocated Sh566.9 billion.

Transport infrastructure is set to receive Sh230.3 billion, with the healthcare sector allocated Sh170.7 billion.

The Treasury has also reduced Kenya’s anticipated economic growth projection from 5.3 percent to 5.0 percent.
