Huduma Kenya Issues Call for Collection of New Batch of IDs and Licences

by KenyaPolls

Huduma Kenya has announced the availability of a fresh supply of personal documents for collection, comprising birth certificates, national IDs, and smart driving licences.

The agency reported in a May 21 notice that 29,138 birth certificates, 178,939 national IDs, and 100,131 smart driving licences are now ready for distribution.

Citizens expecting these documents have been encouraged to retrieve them from their respective Huduma Centres nationwide.

The public has been advised to present proper identification and collection slips when claiming their documents.

The government has accelerated efforts to ensure timely collection of personal documents, aiming to reduce backlogs and enhance service efficiency at registration facilities.

Huduma Kenya previously noted that hundreds of thousands of identification documents remain uncollected, burdening the processing capacity of the National Registration Bureau (NRB) and other service points.

In April, the agency disclosed that more than 462,500 national ID cards had not been collected throughout the country, with a significant portion being duplicates, further complicating backlog management.

Officials cautioned that delayed document collection may result in administrative complications, and the government maintains that applicants should regularly follow up on their applications.

The increased number of inquiries about application and processing timelines has prompted action. The recent Huduma Kenya directive responds to citizen concerns regarding insufficient information and transparency in the collection process.

Document collection is essential, particularly for accessing government services, passport applications, and official transactions requiring valid identification.

Kenyans now enjoy greater convenience in document collection, as select Huduma Centres operate from 7am to 7pm, facilitating access to critical services beyond traditional business hours.

The extended hours apply to major Huduma Centres, including GPO, City Square, Eastleigh, Kisumu, Kakamega, Mombasa, Embu, Kisii, Meru, Migori, Nakuru, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Kitale, Kiambu, Kericho and Makadara.
